Heatherwick studio is formed of over 250 problem solvers. The studio strives to design inspiring, impactful projects and sensitise millions of people to the epidemic of emotionally unhealthy environments that surround us all. Our goal is to spark a global movement that no longer tolerates inhuman, soulless places.
Our vision is for a world where the buildings and places around us are radically more joyful, engaging and human.
Based out of our combined workshop and design studios in London, Shanghai, and California, we create buildings, spaces, masterplans, objects, and infrastructure all over the world. At any one time, we might be working on a pollution-eating car, an international headquarters in Silicon Valley, an opera house in China, or a chair. We value each equally.
We are a creative community of problem solvers across the globe
We look for studio members with the entrepreneurial spirit to make things happen and who delight in sharing their knowledge and experience. We want self-reflective people who are committed to their own growth and are unafraid to support the growth of others.
It’s important to us that everyone feels they belong. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and all applicants will be considered regardless of their culture or background.
Working Style
We believe that good ideas are a team effort and diversity of thought and perspective are valued highly across the studio. Therefore, our working style – whether in a design team or otherwise – is highly collaborative. Our designs and ideas are developed through an inquisitive, iterative, and comprehensive process of trial and experimentation, and we hold regular pin-up sessions to discuss a host of options together.
Whatever the format, every team member presents and explains their thinking, and everybody is encouraged to discuss ideas. A creative spark can come from any direction.
Studio Culture
The studio is committed to creating a community where everyone feels they belong. We achieve this through a wide range of events, workshops, lunchtime talks, and social activities to create a friendly and flexible environment.
From our annual Battle of the Bands to bingo nights, charity auctions, pub quizzes, life drawing sessions and sports and running clubs – there is always plenty going on.
Add in good food, good music, lots of cake and biscuits and the occasional studio site visit, and you have a culture that places value on togetherness, creativity and fun.
Learning & Development
Studio members have access to a wide variety of learning, training, and development opportunities to support both personal and professional development. We also offer financial support towards study and membership fees, and opportunities for sabbaticals.
Studio Benefits
We expect all studio members to work together with honesty and integrity,
and to have a genuine care for each other.
We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and all applicants will be considered without regard to ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or parental status, national origin, neurodiversity status or disability status.
We encourage all people from historically underrepresented backgrounds to apply.
